We decided to do microlots because Indian coffee is simply far too diverse and heterogenous to standardise a roast and call it a day! Also, because we work directly with so many smallholder producers, we end up with beautiful but very small lots of coffee. A unique flavour, origin, history or ecosystem allows for a limited edition and small-batch microlot.
MICROLOT 22 | A BLEND OF THREE ARABICAS
We have been wanting to do a blended Arabica for some time now. Blends are tricky because you have to select beans that complement rather than contest with each other. After months of mixing and matching, here is our selection. Microlot 22 is a blend of three Arabicas: two washed Arabicas from different farms in BR Hills, Karnataka (including a Peaberry) and a washed Arabica from The Nilgiris. We do this as a medium roast.
Origin: BR Hills, Karnataka & The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu
Elevation: 1600 MSL & 1800 MSL
Bean: Arabica (including Peaberry)
Forest type: Moist Evergreen
Big bodied, nutty flavours with hints of amla and cranberry
Best brewed as: Aeropress, Moka Pot and Pour Over
Brewing tips: Use a more finer grind than you usually would. We recommend a Medium Fine Grind for the AeroPress and a Medium Coarse for the Moka Pot. Rather than cold brew, we prefer on ice versions of this coffee.
Lot size: 80 kilos, limited volume only and only till stocks last
Available as a 250g & 500g bags only!
