We decided to do microlots because Indian coffee is simply far too diverse and heterogenous to standardise a roast and call it a day! Also, because we work directly with so many smallholder producers, we end up with beautiful but very small lots of coffee. For e.g. in 2018, 134 women in BR Hills harvested, hand-pulped and segregated coffee for us. This became Microlot 8! Since then, we have tried to play around with coffees that find themselves into small-lot coffees!
MICROLOT 20 | A BLEND OF THREE ARABICAS
We have been wanting to do a blended Arabica for some time now. Blends are tricky because you have to select beans that complement rather than contest with each other. After months of mixing and matching, here is our selection. Microlot 20 is a blend of three Arabicas: two washed Arabicas from different farms in Karnataka and an Arabica natural. We do this as a medium-dark roast.
