Know the grower

The Arabica coffee beans have been hand pulped in BR Hills by members of our sister organisation,  the Biligiri Soligara Coffee Belegarara Sangha. No chemical inputs have been used. We are currently using beans harvested by producers in Yerakannagadde podu.

The Robusta is a natural and sun-dried cherry that comes from the Agasteshwara Temple Estate in Guyya, Kodagu.  While the mighty Cauvery flanks its north, the farm’s west block lies alongside an ancient sacred forest. This sacred forest, considered by locals as the resting place of ancestors is also home to countless plant and wildlife species. No chemical pesticides have been used but there is use of 1.6 kilos of NPK fertiliser per coffee plant.

Tasting Notes

KM: Oooh this is Hansel and Gretel, dark fantasy.

SK: I feel nothing about this!

IG: Very molasses like. Like an old creeper.

AUB: This blend has come a long way from where we started. Its far more balanced but flavourful now.

The inspiration

Otters are ambassadors of freshwater ecosystems. Like us, they are social animals but are increasingly affected like poaching, pollution and sand mining. Their habitats are continuously being encroached and converted. Honestly, these are all very complex issues but we do what we can by safeguarding river stretches alongside coffee farms … in the hope that otters will hang out there very soon!
